Columbus Ohio Winter

When you live in the north, or if you are planning a visit, you need winter weather options. Backup plans. Alternatives. It’s cold in Ohio and the prolonged winter weather is only slightly more tolerable than a colonoscopy. Don’t ask me how I know this, just trust me. The Franklin Park Conservatory in Columbus, OH thankfully falls into that pleasant category of most enjoyable of alternatives.

The Franklin Park Conservatory is close to downtown but on a large enough parcel, 90 acres, that you don’t feel the cramps of being in the big city. The park has a really cool outdoor amphitheater and several times during the year hosts concert events. There are two play areas and several picnic areas. A paved path around and through the park is perfect for a jog, walk, bike ride or roller blading.

Columbus Ohio Downtown

The year 2050 may seem like an eternity away, but in terms of development planning it’s a lot closer than you think. The members of ULI Columbus have begun an initiative dubbed “Columbus 2050″ that’s meant to answer that question. We all have the power to shape the city we live in, and the members of this group have started a fascinating project that aims to plan for Columbus’ future as a member of the global community.

To get the message out, members of the ULI Columbus Board have put together a short video explaining their process and their aspirations for the city we all call home. Watch the video by following the link below:

The 50th edition of the Columbus Arts Festival will take place Friday, June 3rd through Sunday, June 5th and essentially marks the beginning of the summer months in Columbus, Ohio. The festival runs from 11:30AM to 10PM Friday and Saturday and 11:30AM to 6PM on Sunday.

The Discovery District will turn into an art gallery starting Friday with more than 240 national artists showcasing their work. There will also be great food provided by some of Columbus’ best restaurants, as well as live concerts, arts and crafts, and more.

If you are looking to get involved with the Columbus Arts Festival, there are plenty of volunteer opportunities where you can gain invaluable experience helping out with the event. If you still want to get more involved without volunteering, be sure to read the festival’s insight into the Art of Collecting, as well as check out the optional VIP weekend pass.

If you will be in Columbus for the weekend of the arts festival, I hope to see you there. It will be great to be a part of this Columbus, Ohio tradition once again, and I would not suggest for anyone to miss it.
